At Olle Stee, we prefer to work with local products. Not only because the taste of local products is many times better than wholesale products. We also support the local economy by using products from local entrepreneurs. So we literally get our bread from the bakery around the corner, our dairy comes from De Zuivelhoeve Zuidlaren, we get our meat from Keurslager de Vries and the local fishmonger brings us his prawns. We would like to tell you more about these local heroes and highlight some of their homemade toppers.
Bread from the baker in Zuidlaren
It is no joke when we say we get our bread from the bakery around the corner. In fact, our neighbours are the bakers at Hovius Bakery. Hovius Bakery has been baking the tastiest breads and providing Zuidlaren and the surrounding area with delicious treats since 1946. Hovius Bakery's speciality is the Zuidlaarderbol, a bread filled with sultanas, of which Hovius Bakery has already baked more than a million. Every day, they bake a wide variety of fresh breads at bakery Hovius. If you come to Olle Stee for lunch or dinner, you can be sure to get a delicious fresh bread from the bakery on your plate. And the pastries we serve with our coffee are just as delicious and fresh because our cakes also come from bakery Hovius. Quite nice to have a neighbour like that!
Dairy from De Zuivelhoeve in Zuidlaren
A tasty cheese should not be missing on a good drinks board. We thought so too and that is why we contacted De Zuivelhoeve in Zuidlaren. The cheese masters of De Zuivelhoeve in Zuidlaren, Anja and AnneBart, have thought along with us and picked a nice selection of products for Olle Stee. Among other things, De Zuivelhoeve sells a wide range of Dutch, farmhouse and foreign cheeses. As a result, we have put a number of delicious products of De Zuivelhoeve on our drinks boards as well as on our lunch and dinner menus.
Meat from Keurslager de Vries
Colour butcher Martin and his team provide us with the tastiest cuts of meat. Beef, pork or chicken, we get it at Keurslager de Vries. Meat from Keurslager de Vries means high-quality meat, because you don't become a Keurslager overnight. Every Keurslagerij meets high quality standards and is part of the Association of Keurslagers. This collective started in 1946 and has grown into a brand of more than 350 Keurslager's throughout the Netherlands. Keurslager de Vries mainly selects local farmers who have an eye for aspects such as quality, safety and sustainability. They process the products mostly in their own kitchens, thus guaranteeing flavour and quality. Are you looking for a restaurant in Zuidlaren that serves meat from the local butcher? Then come to Olle Stee.
Fish from the local fishmonger
You won't find a huge amount of fish on Olle Stee's menu, but what's on it does come from the local fishmonger in Zuidlaren. That way we can be sure that your fish is fresh and we can trace its origin. For example, do you choose the Thai prawns from the menu for dinner? Then these 'just' come from Zuidlaren, from the local fishmonger that is.
Home-made classics
Not only do we serve local products, in our kitchen we also make all kinds of homemade delicacies using local produce. These dishes have since become true Olle Stee classics. For instance, you can enjoy a delicious home-made meatball served with fried onion, bacon, mushrooms and peppers for both lunch and dinner. Or go for the Olle Burger, a home-made hamburger with meat from Keurslager de Vries. Romy's piri piri chicken and the homemade chicken satay are also popular with our guests. For vegetarians, our chefs have developed a cheese dip with camembert from the oven from De Zuivelhoeve. This surprising snack/appetiser is served with vegetable sticks, bread from Hovius bakery and tortilla chips. Come and enjoy our local, homemade classics too. Book your table today!
