Olle Stee: the resting point for hikers

langeafstandsmarkering van het Pieterpad in Zuidlaren

Every year, hundreds if not thousands of people walk through Zuidlaren. The Pieterpad, the Drenthepad and the newest Hondsrugpad, they all pass through the bustling centre of Zuidlaren. After walking for kilometres along unpaved footpaths through woods and open fields, there looms the village of Zuidlaren. Voted the greenest village in Europe in 2014. Time for a stopover. At Olle Stee, of course!

Pieterpad - Olle Stee

Every hiker has to walk it once: the Pieterpad. The Netherlands' best-known long-distance walk runs from Pieterburen in northern Groningen to Sint-Pietersberg in southern Limburg. This makes it a walk through a wide variety of landscapes. From the clay of Groningen, you walk across sandy Drenthe to the Sallandse Heuvelrug and the Achterhoek, before ending in hilly Limburg.

In total, the Pieterpad consists of 26 stages that are about 15 to 22 kilometres long. You can walk them one after the other, from top to bottom or in reverse, but you can also do individual stages. One of the stages in Drenthe takes you past Olle Stee: the restaurant along the Pieterpad in Zuidlaren. The ideal place to take a rest while enjoying a bite to eat or a drink.
